Why Are You Fighting Your Vice?
Traditional vices lock you into one position, forcing you to constantly stop, unclamp, and reposition your work just to keep going. For woodworkers and makers, that means wasted time, inconsistent results, and unnecessary frustration… especially when working on intricate or delicate pieces.
Why this becomes a problem:
Total Control for Every Cut, Carve, and Detail
The Work IQ Vice is built for makers who demand flexibility. With a 360° articulating ball joint and quick-lock system, you can position your work exactly how you need it — without stopping. Pair it with interchangeable jaws for any material, and the IQ Connect Hands Free Kit for lighting and magnification… and you’ve got complete control from start to finish.

I installed it with ease, and it is better for 99% of what I use a vice for. My heavy older vice could accept the blows of a sledgehammer and extreme torque, but the IQ vice is more convenient and more useful for everything else. It handles plenty of torque with the locking pin holding the ball in a fixed position. The quality is impressive. Don't hesitate with the purchase.
The padded jaws are fantastic. I use the vice as a 3rd hand at my work bench. I would recommend this tool for all of your light bench work needs.
The versatility of this vice sets it above for me. As I have a closed bench, the ability to articulate outward as I work on larger items is a must. The accessories are fantastic and help being able to flexibly use extra lighting, a magnifying glass, and either film(for school) or watch tutorials while working on firearms.
I've been using this vise now for over a month. The first thing about the vise is its eye catching and an instant conversation piece. After you mount it on your bench, it will sit around for the first few days because you don't want to use it and get it dirty or mark it up. I even found myself doing things that should be clamped in a vice right next to it. Then comes the day where that eureka moment hits you and you seriously use the vise for the first time. After this, you're hooked, and it becomes the centerpiece of your workbench. Have used it for countless things now and have only had it for a month. I've clamped things like 8' 1/8”-1/4” metal and aluminum tube and angle iron for cutting, golf club shafts that are both metal and fiberglass, to clamping electrical components for soldering. I truly love this advice, and it was worth the extra money to purchase it.
The Work IQ Tools IQ Vise offers impressive versatility and functionality in a medium-capacity vise. Unlike conventional vises with fixed parallel jaws, this vise stands out for its unique design, reminiscent of the renowned cast iron Pattern Maker vise. While not as versatile as its predecessor, which was mounted beneath the bench, the Work IQ vise excels in its own right, offering comparable performance at a more affordable price point.Crafted from durable aluminum and steel, this vise operates smoothly and exerts significant clamping force, ensuring a secure workpiece grip. Its removable vise pads, featuring grooves and soft padding, easily accommodate pipes and other irregularly shaped objects. Additionally, the vise jaws can be swapped out for various insert options, enhancing its adaptability to different tasks. The inclusion of a comprehensive user manual and smart packaging further demonstrates the manufacturer's commitment to quality and user satisfaction. While the vise can be mounted directly to a benchtop using screws, I opted to mount it on an L-shaped wooden base for added mobility and versatility. This setup allows me to clamp the vise to different parts of the bench using clamps, expanding its usability. This vise offers exceptional flexibility with features like a locking pin for fixed horizontal or vertical positioning and adjustable access positions for diagonal or pitched configurations. However, I found that the cam lever clamp needs to be engaged even in fixed positions to minimize shaking. While the Work IQ vise may come at a higher price than traditional woodworking vises, its unparalleled versatility makes it a valuable addition to any workshop. As a woodworker, I appreciate its ability to tackle specialized tasks and handle challenging workpieces, complementing rather than replacing my existing bench vise.
This is exactly what I was looking for. The design is sleek, it works perfectly, and the price point is very reasonable.
