Will it hold on your wall? A Gator needs about 50mm of flat steel to reach full strength — which covers almost every modern shed, workshop, shipping container, toolbox and work van. Every capacity shown is a shear rating — the real downward load once your gear is hanging on it — tested on 1.6mm steel, not the inflated pull figures quoted on 12mm plate elsewhere.

Genuine Gator Magnetics are not sold in Australian hardware stores. Imitations sold through overseas third-party sites won't hold like the real thing.

Will they work on a corrugated shed

Not really, due to the contours the magnets are not able to sit flush on the metal as such their weight capacity is comprised. Gators ideally need at least 50mm width of flatness to work effectively

What thickness of steel is required for Gators to work

All shear strength holding capacities advertised are tested using 16-gauge steel (about 1.6mm Galvanised Steel)

What surfaces do Gator Magnetics work on?

Gator Magnetics work on steel surfaces such as toolboxes, cabinets, sheds, shipping containers, vans, washing machines, and more.

They will not work on aluminium, plastic, or non-magnetic materials.

How much weight can Gator Magnetics hold?

Holding capacity depends on the product and the surface.

Mega Hooks - up to 20kg
Midi Hooks - up to 11kg
Mini Hooks - up to 6.8kg

Always note that performance can vary based on steel thickness and surface quality.

Will they damage or scratch my surfaces?

No - Gator Magnetics are designed to be surface-safe when used correctly. All Gator products have a protective rubber back to protect surface and acts as an anti slip

What hook is best to hang a bike

The Mega 4.5" Open is best for hanging bikes. Hold by the handle bars with the wheels facing out.

What hook is best to hold a whipper snipper

The Mega 4.5" Open is generally the best hook for holding a Whipper Snipper in the upright position

What hooks is best to hang a hose

Depending on the length of the hose the 4.5" Mega Closed or 6" Mega Closed are best for hanging hoses

How many items can I hang on each hook

If we use a shovel for example, the general rule is:
2.5" Open Hook - 1 Shovel
4" Open Hook - 2 Shovels
4.5" Open Hook - 3 Shovels
6" Open Hook - 4 Shovels

How long will it take to receive my order?

We fulfil orders within 1 business day, standard shipping normally takes 3-5 days. Next day shipping is available on all domestic orders (for an additional charge). International shipping times depend on the products and destination (estimated at checkout).

Returns and Refunds

How do I return a product?

Items must be returned within 14 days after receiving your order. Items must be returned in the same condition in which they were received, be unworn/unused, have any tags still attached, and include all the original packaging.

How long will it take to receive my refund?

Refunds are processed within 7 days from when we receive the item(s).
